According to a Harris Poll survey conducted for the GLAAD, younger people are more likely to identify as LGBTQ. Specifically, one in five millennials ID as LGBTQ, and millennials are the generation most likely to consider themselves non-straight.
12% of millennials consider themselves transgender or gender-nonconforming.
A researcher explains, "This could be attribute to increasingly accepting environments, wherein for many people, family rejection is less frequent, job security is less at risk, and overall safety is less of a concern when coming out."
