People were outraged this week when a trailer for a British TV show, "Urban Myths," premiered and showed white British actor Joseph Fiennes playing pop legend Michael Jackson. More importantly, the Jackson family was outraged and condemned it.
European pay-TV company Sky has now ditched plans to air the controversial footage from the British comedy series.
"We have taken the decision not to broadcast ‘Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon,’ a half-hour episode from the Sky Arts ‘Urban Myths’ series, in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family. We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events and never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”
We are not sure who thought this was ever a good idea, but at least they have decided to scrap the episode.
Michael's daughter, Paris Jackson, was particularly outraged by the footage. Referring to it as shameful and disrespectful after seeing the trailer.
