Everyone can agree, the 'Thursday Night Football' product has been pretty bad. The game usually features terrible teams, and when it doesn't, the game seems to turn out to be bad anyway. The NFL is aware of this.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the league is considering reducing or even eliminating the “Thursday Night Football” package after the broadcast contracts with NBC and CBS expire following the 2017 season.
The league has tried to drum up interest in the Thursday game, but it just isn't working. Ratings in the NFL are down overall, and this weekly game is not helping the cause.
