Google Searches for 'Write-In' Candidates Seeing Massive Uptick

It seems people are exploring their options ahead of the 2016 election.

According to CNN, Google searches for “write-in” spiked over the last week by more than 2,800 percent, setting a record high since 2004.  Google Trends shows that these searches are mostly focused on Senator Bernie Sanders.

What is interesting about this is that most of the searches are not coming from places that are considered "swing states." The top five market searches for “write-in,” come from states that traditionally vote Democratic — Vermont, Delaware, and New Jersey — and the other two were typical Republican states Utah and Indiana.
